preschool

3 years to 4 years

PreSchool is a special age group at CPH.  Children begin to focus on building friendships as they become more interested in playing with others and working in teams.

Preschoolers begin engaging in structured games and develop social skills and competence through learning to understand the perspectives of others and their rights and responsibilities within groups.  We have harnessed the importance of learning through structured games in team settings and partnered with the Creative Curriculum team to develop lesson plans that promote the development of strong physical motor skills, but also supports the social skills and cognitive development to ensure that your child is prepared for PreKindergarten.

At Community Preschool of Huntersville, PreSchoolers start their day with a group circle time.  Circle Time anchors their class day by reviewing the daily themes, ABCs, numbers, colors and weather.  They also sing songs, read books and play games.  PreSchool educators are trained and talented in encouraging group discussion and participation.  This is a time to grow critical thinking and social skills so that students progress towards PreKindergarten.  At CPH, we follow a progression based academic approach.

At CPH, PreSchoolers develop the ability to work in groups, gain positive self esteem, build oral and listening skills, and develop the ability to think, reason, question and experiment.  CPH Educators tailor their class day and environment so that students can relate to what is being taught and participate in ways that harbor self confidence and a love of learning.  PreSchoolers are leaders at CPH!

PreSchoolers have lots of open ended play time to explore Dramatic Play, Art, ABC Center, Math and Science and the Library Center. The Atrium/Computer space is an additional class space for our PreSchool students. They can have a group computer lesson, robotics class or STEAM lesson and conduct science experiments.   PreSchoolers are busy and learning at CPH!
